Walter Edward Cuddahy, 89
LEOMINSTER – Walter Edward Cuddahy, 89, of Leominster, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 5, 1936, in Leominster, Walter was the son of John and Mildred Cuddahy. He attended St. Leo’s School and proudly served as a United States Navy Veteran.
Walter was well respected and known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He began working at the young age of 8 and was employed over the years at the Leominster News Agency and Tucker Housewares.
He later returned to work at the Leominster News Agency, where he recently retired at the age of 88. There, he was greeted daily by many friends throughout the community.
Walter’s two loves were his family and his home. He enjoyed sitting by his fireplace on a cold winter day, watching cowboy movies, listening to the music of Frank Sinatra and other songs from that era, and most of all, sharing dinner with his children each day.
He enjoyed watching New England sports, but even more, he loved watching his children’s and grandchildren’s sports events.
A devout Catholic, Walter was a longtime member of St. Leo’s Church.
Walter was a loving father and devoted to his nine children, Edward Cuddahy; Sean Cuddahy (deceased); Kelly Kirouac and husband, Alfred; Cathleen Moran and husband, Matthew; Maureen Papamechail and husband, Christopher; Erin McNiff and husband, William; Timothy Cuddahy and wife, Lisa; Colin Cuddahy and wife, Karen; and Shannon Lora and husband, Robert.
He was extremely proud of his grandchildren, who loved him dearly. He leaves behind 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Walter was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Jane (Brooks) Cuddahy, with whom he built a beautiful family. He is also predeceased by his brothers, Russell Davenport, Joseph Davenport, and John Cuddahy; his sisters, Charlotte Enders, Mary Poulin, Rose Vincelli, and Cynthia Gilmartin.
