Robert E. Thompson, 83 years old, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away at home Sunday April 25th after a brief illness.
He was born January 17, 1938.
Robert worked for over fifty years as a mold maker for Stan Cast in Leominster, retiring in 2007. He was extremely dedicated to and enjoyed his work, never calling out sick even while receiving chemotherapy for colon cancer in 1995.
He enjoyed traveling with his family, especially to Disney World and Miami Beach in Florida and to the ocean and White Mountains of New Hampshire. In retirement he enjoyed working in his yard, sitting in his back yard in the sun, and watching Notre Dame college football games, the Red Sox, and PGA golf. He also enjoyed going Leominster High school football games on sunny Saturday afternoons.
Robert was a lifelong resident of Leominster, attended Leominster schools and graduated from Leominster High School in 1955. He was also a lifelong member of St Leo's church, a member of NAMI, and donated many pints of blood to the Red Cross over the years earning an award.
He leaves his wife of 56 years Mary (Roberts) Thompson, daughter Tamara Pruitt, daughter Rebecca Thompson and companion Steven Young, grandson Sean Pruitt and fiancé Jessica Paskvan, granddaughter Meghan Pruitt and companion James Pierce, brother Richard and wife Doris, many nieces and nephews, and his dog Chip.
Robert was a very kind, loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family every day.
