Jeffrey W. Dean

Jeffrey W. Dean passed away on July 16, 2026, after a serious illness. He had just turned 70 years old.

Born on July 12, 1956 in Wilmington, DE to his late parents, James and Francesca (Wilkos) Dean, Jeffrey spent most of his life in Leominster and later, Fitchburg, MA.

After graduating from Leominster High School in 1974, Jeffrey turned to the workforce, where he was the hardest worker on any job site and in every room. He worked for local construction companies for many years, as well as the Boston Gas Company. He eventually started his own business, Total Property Services, where he was beloved by his customers. He retired from Liberty Rental, as a painter. 

Jeff liked a good pair of work boots and the satisfaction of a job well done. He will be remembered for his impressive strength, his excellent painting skills, meticulous lawn care, and his snow clearing expertise - shoveling and snow blowing circles around the best of them. Above all else, Jeff will be remembered for his willingness to help anyone, at anytime. 

In 1989, Jeffrey married the love his life, Jean Broughey-Dean. They were inseparable from the day they met and together raised a family that loves fiercely, laughs loudly, and shows up for each other, always. Everybody, especially Jean, knew Jeffrey was “one of the good ones.” 

Jeffrey adored his family and will forever remain as their protector, their voice of reason, and their sense of calm during every storm they face together. 

As his kids were growing up, between jobs throughout the day, Jeffrey always made time to drive them to every event, attend every sports game, and be at every school function. He was their coach, their biggest fan, and their confidant, and always remained so. There were many of his children’s friends throughout the years that looked to Jeff for guidance and fatherly advice, as well. He always went the extra mile to be present for his family and those he loved, and he never let them down.

Jeffrey was easygoing, and loved the Grateful Dead, the Boston Red Sox, a good meal, and a cold can of Coke. He was an excellent storyteller, and had one ready for anybody at anytime. He loved making jokes, and always had a sweet tooth (to match his sweet smile). 

In addition to his parents, Jeffrey was predeceased by his sister, Kimberly Dean, and his oldest son, Joshua W. Dean, who he missed more than words could express. 

Jeff will be eternally missed by his wife, Jean Broughey-Dean, his sons, Jonathon E. Dean, Max F. Dean, Sam J. Dean, and his daughter, Haley E. Dorsey; his children-in-law, Carolina Dean (Sam), Jeffrey Dorsey (Haley), and Ilana Dean (Joshua). It can’t be said enough that his children were his world, and their happiness is all he ever wanted out of life. 

Jeffrey’s grandchildren, Layla E. Dean, Jesse J. Dean, Elora M. Dean, and Kane E. Dorsey, were the absolute greatest joys of his life. He loved them intensely, and was present in every moment he spent with them. After he retired, he spent 4 years caretaking for his grandsons Jesse and Kane, the ultimate gift to them and their parents. They will always remember their Pa for his warm smile, his big hugs, and his infectious laughter. 

He also leaves nieces, nephews, siblings-in-law, and many other family and friends.

Jeffrey’s warm presence and his calm demeanor was always welcomed and valued by everyone, and his absence is so clearly felt.  Per his wishes, there will be no services. Jeffrey will instead be honored and remembered forever by his family and all who were lucky enough to know him.
