Eleanor R. (Berthiaume) Cormier, 89
Eleanor R. (Berthiaume) Cormier, 89, passed away peacefully on
September 18, 2025, in Melbourne, FL.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Tim Waltermire; her sons, James of Lunenburg, MA, and Richard and his wife, Stacey, of Leominster, MA; her sisters, Janet Charette of Palm Bay, FL, and Carol McNally and her husband, Mike, of Leominster, MA; five adored grandchildren; one precious great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews who were all dear to her heart.
She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 64 years, Donald “Joe” Cormier; her son, David; and her sister, Doris Cormier of Gardner, MA.
Born October 31, 1935, to Henry and Florence (Murray) Berthiaume, Eleanor spent most of her life in Leominster. She married Joe in 1957, and together they raised a loving family. In 2005 they followed the sunshine to Palm Bay, FL, happily calling it home while always keeping Massachusetts close to their hearts.
Eleanor left college after two years to begin working and to raise her family, holding a variety of accounting positions at Fort Devens, Cormier Auto Sales, DG Cormier Excavating, and Jim Cipolla Ford. She enjoyed a full and happy retirement in Florida with Joe, always looking forward to visits back north to reconnect with family and friends.
Devoted to her grandchildren and her great-grandchild, Eleanor delighted in keeping up with their lives. She loved watching sports and movies with her husband but was just as passionate about games and puzzles on her computer—and more recently, her iPad. Eleanor touched countless lives with her warm smile, quick wit, and gentle presence which touched everyone who knew her.
Calling hours will be held at Curley-Marchand Funeral Home on Thursday October 9 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St. Leominster Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery.
