Aimee Jeanette (Meyers) Perkins passed away in Leominster on June 18, 2024, and is now reunited with her husband John (Jack) G. Perkins who proceeded her in death in 1995. They were married for over 40 years.
Aimee was born on April 18, 1928, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated from Sacred Heart College of Grand Coteau and taught English in Port Sulphur, Louisiana for 3 years. Aimee met her husband Jack in Baton Rouge through a mutual acquaintance and after only a few months of weekend dates they became engaged. Jack and Aimee were married months later in October 1954 and Aimee began her life in New England.
Living their entire married lives in the house they built in Leominster, Aimee and Jack raised five children: John Perkins, (Kathryn) of Mashpee, MA, Aimee Perkins Berger of Roseville, CA, Patrick Perkins (Nancy) of Westminster, MA, Michael Perkins (Lyn) of Mashpee, MA and Mary Piermarini (David) of Concord, CA. Aimee was a devoted, caring and loving mother to her children, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Aimee was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Church for over 65 years where she participated in various ministries, taught CCD class and served as both a lector and Eucharistic minister. Aimee was very involved in the annual Church Bazaar for decades and could be found in the church kitchen days before the event peeling apples and baking pies. The highlight of the pie booth was the “Jack Perkins Special” - a slice of apple pie and mounds of vanilla ice cream.
Aimee was the 2nd oldest of six children and the last of her siblings (Reverend Louis Meyers, Dr. James Meyers, Ruth Dufresne, Yvonne Castrogiovanni, and Joe Meyers) to pass.
Aimee lived at Benchmark Leominster Crossing for the last 3 years. The family would like to acknowledge the staff for their caring treatment of Aimee. The family would also like to acknowledge the kindness and compassion of the hospice staff at Leominster Hospital.
Aimee’s funeral mass will be held next Wednesday, June 26 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St. Leominster. Burial will follow at St. Leo’s Cemetery in Leominster. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 25 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Curley-Marchand Funeral Home, 88 West St. Leominster.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of the Lake Church in Leominster in memory of Aimee Perkins.
